Welcome to the Magoffin County Extended School Services Webpage.
Extended School Services or "ESS" means instructional and support services provided by schools for students who need additional time to achieve academic expectations. ESS funds are allocated to the schools for the purpose of operating a program for students to reach short and long term goals. The major emphases of extended school services shall be:
(a) To enhance the present level of performance of students who are having difficulty in one or more content areas;
(b) To provide extended programming for students who have been retained or who are at risk of being retained in a class or grade or of failing to graduate on time or dropping out without additional assistance; and
(c) To close the achievement gap of low-performing students so that the students will perform successfully in the instructional program appropriate to their age ranges.

Magoffin County Schools offer ESS programs through a variety of formats including after school sessions, before school sessions, daytime waiver sessions and jump start programs. The benefits of being part of ESS is:
