Welcome to Magoffin Co. High School’s Extended School Services webpage. Check back often for updates on events and programs.
The Extended School Services (ESS) program is a proactive program designed to assist individual students who are having difficulty in one or more content areas. ESS funds are allocated to schools for the purpose of operating a program for students having short- or long- term academic difficulties.
Magoffin County Schools offer ESS programs through a variety of formats including after school sessions, before school sessions, evening sessions, summer programs and jump starts. Magoffin Co. High School’s ESS program is conducted in after-school sessions. The program will begin in January 2011 and will run for 35 school days (Tuesday – Thursday 3:30-5:30).
What makes Magoffin Co. High’s ESS program unique is that, not only does any student have the opportunity to attend ESS to receive extra assistance in ENG, HIST, MTH, SCI, or Humanities, but students also have the opportunity to recover credits that were lost due to a failing grade in a “regular instruction time” course. For more information on credit recovery, contact the school’s ESS coordinator. Because the program is after school, MCHS provides lunch to ESS students free of charge. Currently, however, the district does not provide bus transportation with our program.
