In Magoffin County’s season-opening game versus South Floyd, Jenkins completed 14 of 17 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns. The Magoffin County quarterback hooked up with three different receivers in Magoffin County’s 47-28 win over longtime rival South Floyd. Also contributing on defense, Jenkins registered four tackles for the Hornets.
One of the area’s most versatile high school quarterbacks, Jenkins can hurt opposing defenses both through the air and on the ground. In 2013, Jenkins passed for 1,941 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Magoffin County signal-caller also thrived on the ground, rushing for 440 yards and nine touchdowns. Jenkins earned multiple honors at the conclusion of the 2013 season.
Players from several area high school football teams including powerhouses Belfry, Johnson Central and Pikeville were nominated for the weekly award.
