The JETS TEAMS program is an annual high school competition helping students discover their potential for engineering. Using math, science and 21st century learning skills, students work together to problem-solve real, everyday world challenges. Throughout the competition, students work collaboratively to solve original and innovative engineering scenarios focused on an annual theme. In 2011, students will tackle energy and the global need for diversification, efficiency, security and ecological sustainability.
Register your team online at www.jets.org/teams and submit payment directly to JETS. Make sure to register early to receive discounted rates and secure your space. Registration fee:
-- Registration between September 1 and November 30: $175 for the 1st team, $125 for each additional team.
-- Registration between December 1 and January 31: $200 for the 1st team, $150 for each additional team.
-- Registration between February 1 and February 26: $225 for the 1st team, $175 for each additional team.
Awards and scholarships:
- Trophies for 1st and 2nd place in Level 1 (9/10 grades)
- Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Level 2 (11/12 grades)
- University of Kentucky will be providing scholarships to each student in the division winner category to attend UK College of Engineering for undergraduate studies. Scholarship amount is $1000 per year renewable for 4 years of college, up to a total of $4000.
Cash Awards: (new for 2011)
11/12 grade level:
$50: For all students in the 1st place winning team in 11/12 level
$30: For all students in the 2nd place winning team in 11/12 level
$20: For all students in the 3rd place winning team in 11/12 level
9/10 grade level:
$50: For all students in the 1st place winning team in 9/10 level
$30: For all students in the 2nd place winning team in 9/10 level
