Mental Health

Students who are experiencing mental health problems potentially have increased difficulty in their academic, career, and social/emotional development. Improving and maintaining mental health is critical to a child's success in school and in life. As a parent, finding the right methods or resources to help for your child can be a scary and unfamiliar process. If you or someone you know has issues related to mental health, there are several methods for acquiring help. Attached to this page are some helpful links, information, and resources related to meeting student, faculty, and parents' mental health needs.

For additional questions or information, please contact Barry Adkins, School Psychologist, or  Cameron Blanton, Mental Health Coach for Magoffin County Schools at 349-6117, or your child's school.

If you or someone you know may be in a crisis and need immediate support or intervention, call Mountain Comprehensive Care's Crisis Line (1 800-422-1060) or call/go the website of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255). Trained crisis workers are available to talk 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your confidential and toll-free call goes to the nearest crisis center in the Lifeline network. These centers provide crisis counseling and mental health referrals. If the situation is potentially life-threatening, it is advised that you call 911 or go to a hospital emergency room.
