Our Local Fiscal Court Supports Read Across America

The Read Across America Celebration kicked off during a recent Fiscal Court meeting as Dr. Charles Hardin signed a proclamation declaring the months of March & April as this year’s official NEA Read Across America months.  MCEA President Victoria Felber-Keeton and SME student Danielle Auxier presented the proclamation.  This will be the 14th year Magoffin County Schools have partnered with the National Education Association in building a nation of readers through its signature program, Read Across America (RAA).  During RAA, Magoffin Schools reaffirm their commitment to investing in our children and giving them an essential tool for success in school and in life:  the ability to read.  Students in the Gifted/Talented program prepared an entertaining program featuring a puppet show, music, song, and dance along with special guests – Cat in the Hat and Thing One.  Principals at each school encourage parents and community members to show their support for reading by attending one of the scheduled events.  You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.

Valentine Dance

Students at NME dressed up in their ball gowns to celebrate Valentine's Day.  The Valentine dance is always a big incentive for intermediate students.  Each year, we are so proud of the way our students behave and have a good time together.

Valentine's Day Celebration at NME

Students had a great Valentine's Day at NME by creating Valentine boxes and exchanging Valentine's with classmates.  Students in grades 3-6 also got all dressed up in their party clothes for a school dance.  The dance was a big hit with the students and the staff.  Staff members were very pleased with how the students behaved and enjoyed dancing to all of the different music.  Special thanks to assistant superintendent Sanford Holbrook for the use of all of his music collection.
