HWMS Will Vote 8th Grade Superlatives

Nominations for the 2015/2016 superlatives will be taken during 3rd period on Tuesday, October 6th, 2015, after we return from Fall Break. Nominations will be taken in each individual 8th grade home room. Students must be present to be nominated. Students will vote on Friday, October 9th, 2015, among the home room winners. This will happen during 3rd period. Students must be present to vote. There will be no make-up or late voting.

Healthy Teeth

The Magoffin County Health Department provided free fluoride varnish treatments to 1st - 5th grade students at North Magoffin Elementary through the Smiling Schools Dental Project.


Applications for the WYMT Mountain Classic Scholarship are in the counselor's office and in the library.

It is based on academic performance (50%) and financial need (50%).

Required to apply:
* Minimum 20 composite ACT
* A copy of parent's W-2 and 1st page of Form 1040
* 2 letters of recommendation from teachers

The application and all supplemental material must be turned in to the counselor's office by Wednesday, October 7.

This scholarship is $1000 and many schools will match it
making it worth $2000! So apply today!!!

HWMS Takes Math Outside Of The Classroom

Students in Mrs. Poe's math class display their understanding of input/output, slope/rate of change, y-intercept, and graphing of linear equations with side walk chalk.

MCHS Students Collecting Food to Support Local Backpack Program

The Magoffin County High School will have ESS classes beginiing Tuesday, September 8th through December 17th.  Classes will be from 3:30-5:00 PM three evenings a week. 

Students can earn credits in English, Math, Science and Social Studies.
