School News
Magoffin County was limited as Pikeville pulled away to win 14-1 in five innings in a high school softball season opener at the University of Pikeville on Monday, March 17.
Magoffin County came up short in its home opener as Prestonsburg held on to win 18-16 on Tuesday, March 18.
Making his college choice official, Magoffin County High School senior Trey Rudd signed with the University of Pikeville football program during a ceremony held at MCHS on Friday, March 14.
Magoffin County managed to outhit Breathitt County 5-3 in a high school baseball season opener. However, Breathitt County held on to beat the Hornets 3-1 on Monday, March 17.
Magoffin County owned a lead but couldn’t hold off the home team as Floyd Central pulled away to win 14-4 in six innings on Tuesday, March 18.
Multiple Magoffin County archers excelled during the Kentucky State NASP/IBO 3D Challenge at the Kentucky Exposition Center on Saturday, March 15.

Congratulations to these amazing girls for their acceptance into the Rogers Scholar Program! Lyndsey Wireman, Mallie Risner, and Maddie Salyer will be spending a week at a university to participate in the program and focus on skills in leadership, technology, entrepreneurship, and community service!

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five, through funding shared by Dolly Parton and local community partners in the United States, Canada United Kingdom, Australia and Republic of Ireland.
The Magoffin County High School Dance Team captured two state championships at Western Hills High School in Frankfort on Saturday, Feb. 22. The MCHS Dance Team finished first out of five teams in Small Jazz. The MCHS Dance Team finished first out of eight teams in Small Pom.

Magoffin County Schools and the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) value your input and want to hear about your experience as a parent or guardian of a child with an Individual Education Program (IEP). The information you offer will give the KDE and Magoffin County Schools valuable data on how to improve parent and family engagement.
South Magoffin Elementary is collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Lexington. Last year our little school collected around 200 lb and we hope to collect more than that this year. Please share this post and gave your tabs.
