Due to inclement weather, Head Start students will not meet the required 128 days of attendance by May 28, 2026. To ensure this requirement is fulfilled, two additional school days have been added to the calendar.

The following days are instructional days: Monday, March 30 Tuesday, March 31 Wednesday, April 1
We understand that families may have already planned trips during this time. Students who have planned travel that holds significant educational value may submit an Educational Enhancement Opportunity (EHO) Form for approval. These forms allow students to receive an excused absence for educational activities that provide enrichment aligned with their learning. The form can be submitted through the Magoffin County Schools App or online at https://www.magoffin.kyschools.us/forms/.

Early Dismissal 1:00 PM. Due to the potential for a heavy band of inclement weather during regular afternoon bus routes, Magoffin County Schools will dismiss at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Drill: At 10:07 AM EST (Wednesday, March 4th), Kentucky conducted a Statewide Tornado Drill. You may have received a weather alert notification on your phone at that time.
This alert was part of the scheduled drill. There is no severe weather expected.
Please be assured this is only a test as part of severe weather preparedness. Student safety remains our top priority, and participating in drills helps ensure we are prepared.

Magoffin County Schools will operate on a regular schedule on Wednesday, February 11th. Bus drivers will be in contact with families whose roads they cannot access to coordinate alternate meeting locations.

There will be no school in Magoffin County on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026. This closure will allow additional time for rising temperatures to improve road conditions countywide.
Our hope is to return to school on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, with a modified bus schedule. An official return decision and any modified bus schedules will be shared tomorrow after conditions are reassessed.
