We're excited to share that Magoffin County Schools will be providing the following school supplies for students during the 2026–2027 school year: notebooks, pencils, crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, composition notebooks, & pocket folders. Please note that individual teachers or classrooms may request additional supplies based on specific grade-level or classroom needs.
Magoffin County FRYSC hosts annual Community Giveaway at the Lloyd M Hall Community Center from 10AM to 2PM. A wide variety of items and everything is free!
Magoffin County Head Start Now Accepting Applications
Due to the potential for severe weather conditions today, all Summer Feeding Program deliveries and meal pick-ups scheduled for today will be rescheduled for Friday, June 19.
Free weekly breakfast and lunch boxes are available this summer for children ages 1-18. Boxes will be distributed each Thursday and will include seven days' worth of breakfast and lunch items.
Reminder: In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no school in Magoffin County on Monday, May 25th.
There will be no school in Magoffin County, Tuesday, May 19th due to Election Day. Students will return on Wednesday, May 20th.

Due to inclement weather, Head Start students will not meet the required 128 days of attendance by May 28, 2026. To ensure this requirement is fulfilled, two additional school days have been added to the calendar.
Head Start students will now also attend school on:

Reminder: The Magoffin County Board of Education amended the 2025-2026 school calendar to adjust for missed instructional days due to inclement weather. As a result, some days originally designated for spring break will now be regular instructional days.

We understand that families may have already planned trips during this time. Students who have planned travel that holds significant educational value may submit an Educational Enhancement Opportunity (EHO) Form for approval. These forms allow students to receive an excused absence for educational activities that provide enrichment aligned with their learning. The form can be submitted through the Magoffin County Schools App or online at https://www.magoffin.kyschools.us/forms/.

There will be no school in Magoffin County on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026.
Early Dismissal 1:00 PM. Due to the potential for a heavy band of inclement weather during regular afternoon bus routes, Magoffin County Schools will dismiss at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2026.
The Magoffin County Board of Education has amended the 2025-2026 school calendar to adjust for missed instructional days due to inclement weather. As a result, some days originally designated for spring break will now be regular instructional days.
The following days will now be instructional days:

Wednesday, April 1
With this adjustment, the projected last day of school is now Thursday, May 28.

Drill: At 10:07 AM EST (Wednesday, March 4th), Kentucky conducted a Statewide Tornado Drill. You may have received a weather alert notification on your phone at that time.
This alert was part of the scheduled drill. There is no severe weather expected.

Congratulations Magoffin County Schools on receiving the 2026-2028 Read to Achieve Grants from the Kentucky Department of Education. The grants will support reading intervention at each elementary school for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years.
