This week for Family Engagement Week, we’re spotlighting new parent resources highlighted by OSEEL! Families can access tools designed to support Special Education needs, transition planning, and postsecondary readiness— including the very helpful KY Transition 360 platform. These resources are perfect for parents and caregivers looking to stay engaged and advocate for their student’s future.
Family Guide to Special Education Videos: In recognition of Kentucky’s Family Engagement Week (November 17-21) and OSEEL’s commitment to strengthening school-family partnerships, we are excited to announce the publication of the first two episodes in the "Family Guide to Special Education" series. These resources were developed to simplify the IEP process and empower parents to work with the school in creating a strong support system for their child. Episode 1: Evaluation and Eligibility, and Episode 2: The Individual Education Program (IEP) can be found on the Parent and Family Resources webpage.
Kentucky Transition 360 for Parents: KY-SPIN (Kentucky’s Special Parent Involvement Network) is excited to announce the launch of KY Transition 360 for Parents, an online, self-paced learning course designed to help families better understand effective postsecondary transition practices for students with disabilities. Developed in partnership with the Kentucky Department of Education’s Office of Special Education and Early Learning Transition Education Unit, this course provides parents with high-quality content aligned to the KY Transition 360 for Educators program, supporting families as they prepare their students for life after high school.

We are especially proud that our students rated our schools with the highest scores for School Climate and Safety. Their voices matter, and this feedback shows the strong relationships, caring culture, and safe learning environments our educators work hard to create every single day.
Thank you to our students, staff, families, and community partners for continuing to make Magoffin County a place where students feel supported and empowered.
Engage. Educate. Empower.
